Terms of use
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms apply when you download or use the AceCode app for Mac, buy AceCode Pro, or use acecode.app. Please read them, especially the parts about your calls, payment, refunds and AI. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
In short
- AceCode helps you during calls. You decide how to use it, and you are responsible for following the rules of your interviews, assessments and employer.
- Tell the people on your calls that you transcribe them, or get their consent, where the law requires it.
- AI answers can be wrong. Check them before you rely on them.
- Hiding the overlay from screen sharing is best effort. We can't promise that no tool will ever see it.
- Pro renews until you cancel. Ask within 14 days of paying and we refund you in full.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what apply.
1. Who we are
AceCode is made and sold by Ihar Litvinovich, a sole trader (jednoosobowa działalność gospodarcza) registered in Poland:
Ihar Litvinovich
Warszawa, Poland
NIP (tax ID): 7011083588, REGON: 521736373
Email: support@acecode.app
“We”, “us” and “our” in these terms mean Ihar Litvinovich. “You” means the person using AceCode.
2. This agreement
By downloading, installing or using AceCode, or by buying Pro, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use AceCode. You must be at least 16 years old to use it. If you use AceCode for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms on its behalf.
Some parts of these terms apply only to consumers: people who use AceCode mainly for purposes outside their trade, business or profession. Under Polish law, a sole trader who buys AceCode for a purpose that isn't professional for them, as shown in their business registration, has the same protections as a consumer under these terms. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that consumer law gives you.
3. What AceCode is and what it needs
AceCode is an assistant for Mac that helps you during live technical interviews and calls. On your request it transcribes the call on your Mac, can take a screenshot of your screen, and shows suggested answers, code and diagrams from an AI model in a small window (the overlay). The website acecode.app offers information about AceCode, downloads, sign-in, checkout and your account page.
To use AceCode you need:
- a Mac: macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon;
- an internet connection for answers, sign-in and updates;
- the macOS permissions AceCode asks for: microphone, system audio recording, screen recording and speech recognition;
- for answers, either a free AceCode account (for the included model) or your own API key from a supported AI provider.
4. Your licence
AceCode is licensed to you, not sold. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use AceCode on Macs you own or control, within what your plan includes. A Pro subscription is for one person, on any of the Macs that person uses.
You may not copy AceCode for others, sell, rent or sublicense it, share an account or a Pro subscription with other people, or remove or get around its plan checks and limits. You may not reverse engineer it, except where the law allows you to. We keep all rights to AceCode, its name and its logo. Open-source parts of AceCode are covered by their own licences, which come with the app, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
5. Your AceCode account
An AceCode account is optional with your own API key, and needed for the included model and for Pro. It is for one person. Keep your sign-in safe and don't share it. You are responsible for the Macs you sign in on with your account. You can sign a Mac out at any time on your account page, and you can ask us to delete your account by writing to support@acecode.app.
If you break the rules under Acceptable use, we may suspend your account, in the way that section describes.
6. Your calls, interviews and the people in them
AceCode works inside conversations with other people, so a few things are your responsibility, not ours:
- Consent to transcription. AceCode turns what everyone on the call says into text. In many places the law requires you to tell the other participants, or to get their consent, before you record or transcribe a conversation. Before each session AceCode asks you to confirm that you have done so where it is required. You are responsible for that, and for what you do with the transcript.
- The rules you agreed to. Interviews, coding assessments, exams, employers and clients can have rules about outside help, AI tools, recording or sharing their material. Read them and follow them. AceCode doesn't know those rules and doesn't check them for you, and we aren't responsible for the consequences if your use of AceCode breaks a rule you agreed to.
- Confidential information. A call or a screen can contain information that belongs to your employer, a client or someone else. Send it to an AI model only if you are allowed to.
- What you say. AceCode suggests; you decide what to say and do. You are responsible for your answers, code and decisions, including those based on AceCode's suggestions.
7. Your content and your data
Your transcripts, screenshots, questions, answers, session debriefs and the details you add under About you are yours, and we claim no rights to them. Audio never leaves your Mac. Sessions, transcripts, answers and debriefs are stored on your Mac. When you ask for an answer, AceCode sends the content it needs to the AI model you chose, as described in section 8 and in the privacy policy. With the included model, our server passes that content to the model provider and doesn't store it.
Some other things reach us, and none of them contains your transcripts, screenshots or answers: your AceCode account and the Macs you sign in on, a record of each included-model answer for your monthly allowance, problem reports you choose to send, and anonymous usage counts if you turn them on. All of them are described in the privacy policy.
8. The included model and your own key
- The included model. With an AceCode account, answers can come from AI models we provide through our server, currently from OpenAI. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of quick and full answers (Free: 30 quick and 5 full; Pro: 800 quick and 100 full), counted per calendar month in UTC. Unused answers don't carry over. We may change the provider or the models we use, for example to keep answers fast and good; the allowance on your plan stays the same until your next renewal.
- Your own key. If you add an API key from a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Moonshot or DeepSeek, requests go from your Mac straight to that provider, under your own account with them. Their terms, usage policies and prices apply, and you pay them directly. AceCode sets no limit on those answers. Your key stays in your Mac's Keychain and is never sent to us.
9. AI answers can be wrong
Answers come from AI models. They can be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong, including code that doesn't compile or doesn't handle every case, complexity that is misstated, and diagrams that leave things out. Transcription can mishear words. Check anything important before you rely on it. Answers aren't professional, legal or career advice.
10. Hiding from screen sharing
With Pro, AceCode can ask macOS to leave the overlay out of screen captures, and it offers an experimental stronger option. This works with most screen-sharing apps, but not with every capture tool, and a macOS update can change how it behaves. macOS also shows its own indicators while AceCode records audio or the screen. It is a best-effort feature: we can't promise that the overlay will never appear in a capture or that nobody can tell you are using AceCode. Use the self-test in Settings before a call. Don't rely on it where being seen would harm you or break a rule you agreed to.
11. Plans and payment
- Free costs nothing and has no time limit.
- Pro is a subscription, paid monthly or yearly, at the prices shown on the pricing page when you buy (currently $14.99 a month or $119 a year). Prices are in US dollars. If tax applies to your purchase, checkout shows it before you pay.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period and is charged to the same payment method until you cancel.
- Who takes the payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and never reach us. Stripe sends your receipts.
- Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies. It applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe tries again for a short time. Until it succeeds, your account works as Free. If it keeps failing, the subscription ends.
12. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time on your account page: Manage billing opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can cancel. You can also write to support@acecode.app. Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for, and then your account goes back to Free.
14-day refund. If you ask within 14 days of your first payment for Pro, or within 14 days of a yearly renewal, we'll refund that payment in full, with no questions asked. Monthly renewals after the first payment aren't refunded, but you can cancel before the next one. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 14 days of your request. After a refund, Pro ends and your account goes back to Free.
Your legal right to withdraw. If you're a consumer, the law gives you 14 days to withdraw from a contract made online. Our 14-day refund covers that right and goes further: you can use it whether or not the law's right still applies to you, for example after you've started using Pro. To use either, send us a clear message, such as: “I withdraw from my AceCode Pro purchase made on [date] with the email [address].”
13. When Pro ends
When Pro ends, for any reason, your account goes back to Free. AceCode keeps working: your sessions and settings stay on your Mac, answers with your own key stay unlimited, and the included model gives you the Free allowance. Hiding from screen sharing, auto-answer and the larger allowance stop.
14. Acceptable use
You agree not to use AceCode or acecode.app to:
- break the law, including laws on recording, transcribing or listening to conversations without the consent they require;
- infringe other people's rights, including their privacy and their intellectual property;
- impersonate someone else, for example by letting another person take an interview in your name;
- send unlawful content to the included model, or use it in a way its provider's usage policies forbid;
- interfere with or overload our website, servers or the included model, for example by automating requests, sharing an account, reselling access, or working around the monthly allowances.
If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may suspend your account, your Pro subscription or your access to the included model. We'll tell you why first and give you a chance to respond, unless the situation is urgent, for example if fraud or harm to others is involved.
15. Updates and changes to AceCode
AceCode checks for updates and offers to install them. You can also check from the menu bar menu. Updates are signed, and AceCode doesn't show an update window during a session or while the overlay is on screen.
We improve AceCode over time, so features may be added, changed or removed. If a change makes Pro noticeably worse for you, we'll tell you in advance. You can then cancel and get a refund for the part of your period you haven't used.
16. Other companies' services
AceCode works with services that other companies run: Apple (macOS, speech recognition and screen capture), Clerk for sign-in, Stripe for payments, OpenAI for the included model, the AI providers whose keys you add, and OVHcloud, which hosts our servers. Their own terms apply to them. We aren't responsible for their availability or for changes they make, for example if a provider changes a model or macOS changes how screen capture works.
17. Our responsibility
If you're a consumer, the law requires AceCode to match its description and to work as stated in these terms, and these terms don't limit those rights. If it doesn't work as it should, tell us and we'll fix it. If we can't fix it within a reasonable time, you can ask for a lower price or end the contract and get your money back.
If you use AceCode for business, it is provided “as is”, as far as the law allows. We don't promise that it will run without interruptions or errors, or that it will suit a particular purpose. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we aren't liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
18. Complaints
If something isn't right, write to support@acecode.app. Tell us what went wrong, what you'd like us to do, and the email address of your AceCode account. We'll reply within 14 days. If you're a consumer and we don't reply within 14 days, your complaint counts as accepted.
If we can't agree, consumers can get free help out of court. In Poland, that help comes from municipal and county consumer ombudsmen (rzecznik konsumentów) and the consumer bodies listed at prawakonsumenta.uokik.gov.pl. Consumers in other EU countries can ask their national consumer centre.
19. Ending this agreement
You can stop using AceCode at any time by deleting it, and ask us to delete your account. Cancelling Pro is covered under Cancelling and refunds.
We may end your account or Pro subscription if you seriously break these terms, after telling you why, as described under Acceptable use. If we stop selling Pro, or stop offering a paid feature before your period ends, we'll refund the part of your period you haven't used.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when AceCode gains features or the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated. If a change matters for Pro, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. It applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
21. Law and courts
These terms are governed by Polish law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Disputes with business customers go to the court that has jurisdiction over our registered address in Warsaw.
